The Building & Safety Division issues building permits and performs plan checks.
We perform inspections on all building construction, additions, and alterations to assure compliance with the current City of Desert Hot Springs building codes, Riverside County ordinances, and State and federal laws.

ALL REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 2:00 PM FOR NEXT DAY INSPECTIONS, EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS:
- Calls received on Thursdays by 2:00 pm will be inspected the following MONDAY
- Calls received on Thursdays after 2:00 pm and during the weekend will be inspected the following TUESDAY

2022 California Building Code Adoption and Submittals Under the 2019 California Building Code
This Information Bulletin announces the publication of the 2022 California Building Standards Code, the effective date and application of the codes, availability, as well as enforcement responsibility. The 2022 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, California Code of Regulations (Title 24) was published on July 1, 2022.
Effective Date and Application of the 2022 California Building Standards Code
January 1, 2023, is the statewide effective date for the 2022 California Building Standards Code as established by the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC). In accordance with California Health and Safety Code, Section 18938.5, all applications for building permits submitted on or after January 1, 2023, are subject to compliance with the 2022 California Building Standards Code.
The 2019 California Building Standards Code remains in effect and is applicable to all plans and specifications related to construction performed where the application for a building permit is received on or before December 31, 2022.
