General Municipal Election – November 5, 2024

A General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the following offices:

Qualifications for Office

A person who holds office as Councilmember or Mayor must be at the time of assuming such office an elector of the City of Desert Hot Springs (City), and must have been a registered voter of the City at the time nomination papers were issued. (CA Government Code §§ 34882, 34904, 36502).

Additionally, City Councilmember candidate(s) must reside in the jurisdictional boundaries of their respective district for no fewer than thirty (30) days prior to filing nomination papers, and for the duration of their term. Proof of residency in document form must be provided to the City Clerk upon filing nomination papers.

Nomination Period

The nomination period is from July 18, 2022, to August 11, 2022. By law, the required documents and forms will only be available during this time period.

Measure "P" Sales Tax Ballot Measure

On July 2, 2024, the Desert Hot Springs City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-031 to submit the following measure to the voters in the November 5, 2024 election.

Desert Hot Springs Fiscal Stability / Local Control Measure
Shall the measure to maintain Desert Hot Springs’ fiscal stability/general services, including maintaining 911 emergency/police response; anti-gang/drug programs; crime prevention/investigation; disaster preparation; pothole repair; preventing road/bridge closures; homelessness prevention; attracting local businesses by keeping public areas clean, safe, well-lit; by establishing a 1¢ sales tax, providing approximately $2,400,000 annually until ended by voters, with public spending disclosure/all funds spent in Desert Hot Springs, be adopted? Yes No
