A General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the following offices:
Qualifications for Office
A person who holds office as Councilmember or Mayor must be at the time of assuming such office an elector of the City of Desert Hot Springs (City), and must have been a registered voter of the City at the time nomination papers were issued. (CA Government Code §§ 34882, 34904, 36502). Additionally:
- City Councilmember(s) must reside in the jurisdictional boundaries of their respective district for no fewer than 30 days prior to filing nomination papers, and for the duration of their term.
- Mayoral candidate(s) must reside in the jurisdictional boundaries of the City no fewer than 30 days prior to filing nomination papers, and for the duration of their term.
- Proof of residency in document form must be shown to the City Clerk upon filing nomination papers.
Nomination Period
The nomination period is from July 15, 2024, to August 8, 2024. By law, the required documents and forms will only be available during this time period.
- Nomination Papers may be obtained at the City Clerk's Office at Desert Hot Springs City Hall (11-999 Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240).
- Completed Nomination Papers may be filed at the City Clerk's Office at Desert Hot Springs City Hall (11-999 Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240) no later than August 8, 2024, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.
